Lock and Key Atc's

Here are another set of 4 atcs made for a group swap, the background papers are made with distress inks, stamped with Mona, the lock and keys are also stamped onto card cutout and attached with tiny brads, I found it awkward to cut out the keyhole in the lock with a scalpel but think that it was worth it, hope that the girls liked these !!!!!

Chipboard tiles

In the vintageatcuk group that I belong to we recently had a tile swap, the chipboard tiles were to go onto a canvas background that the group mum, Ali Brandist, kindly sent to us,

the themes were, favorite number, birth sign, halloween theme with a quote, the word Serendipity and the initial J, the 5 tiles ranged from 1" square up to 4 1/2" x 2"

here are the tiles that I made using acrylic paints, inks, glitters, images, tissue papers, glimmer mists, beads, stamping etc

Another set of atc's, these were made for a group swap they all had Dream Titles, 2 of the backgrounds are glimmer mists, 2 are done with the shaving foam technique the others are torn papers :-)

Vintage tags, Shabby Chic

We recently had a shabby chic tag book swap on the Vintage atc UK group that I am in, so I thought that I would show you my tags , as you can see we had to include a front cover and lightly decorate the backs, the back of one is shown in the last picture, these tags were all swapped out and we received lovely books back that are bound with a ring and lots of ribbons, fibres, etc are attached, the tags are approximately 5" long, I loved making these, and didn't really want to part with them but I did get a lovely book back !!!!!!!!!

These atc's were all swapped out in the yahoo group Vintageatcuk, Ali Brandist is the owner off this group and what a great group it is, loads of swaps going on, a small and very friendly group, has been up and running about 8 months, so if you are looking for a new group to join why not take a look at this one :-)

The backgrounds to these are all made from scrap papers left over from other projects, after playtime I gather up all offcuts of paper, braids, ribbons etc and keep them for future use, I have used paints, inks, gesso and stamping on these backgrounds and am very pleased with the way they look !!!!!

Here are a few of the recent atc's that I have traded on Flickr, I enjoy trading on there as you get to pick which atc's you would like in return, the first 3 are made using torn napkin peices for the backgrounds, if only they were real notes as I have about 10 of each and each one has 8 prints on it :-)

The first 2 are done on 7 x 5 watercolour paper, all the images used on these 2 were from Crowabout collage sheets on etsy, Nancy has some great zetti
style and border digi sheets on her site, the backgrounds and the top border on the 2nd one are painted, I also used handmade stamps, inks, gell pens, white poster paint pen, rubber stamp, acrylic paints etc

The jigsaw pieces were from a bargain buy at the local charity shop, a huge floor puzzle, still boxed and complete for just £2.50, it's going to last me a very long time :-) this was made for a friend in the USA, sorry that this picture is a bit blurry but it went postal before I noticed, so this is the only copy that I have.

Pictures of the latest chunky book pages that I have made for our monthly swap over at the sumofallcrafts yahoo group, fronts ans backs, these are 4 x 4 on chipboard, for the colour magic page we were given 3 colours to work with, my were Orange, Brown and Teal

Its been a long Time

Well it has certainly been a long time since I added anything to my blog, this has been due to having a spinal problem in January, which put me flat on my back in bed for a few weeks, I was only back on my feet for a week when I became ill with Epstein-Barr virus known in the UK as glandular fever, anyway I am starting to recover from this now, I hope, I can't wait to get back into the swing of things, I miss doing my art work,

The decorated hands below were made for a swap on the Sum of all crafts group, the swap was for 6 but Ali the hostess kindly let me swap the four that were made prior to my health problems, thanks Ali

Are they zetti or not ???????????

I am not sure what you would call these 2 book pages, are they zetti, ie because of the stripped legs, because they are weird, whoever saw birds like these ?
or are they just bright and colourful book pages,

Whatever the answer I Love them, they were great fun to make, they are 5 x 5 inch on water colour paper, both bird images, the individual letters and all of the border pieces on the left hand one are from Collage Anonymous on etsy, the borders on the other one are pieces from my paper stash and a couple that I made myself, I am so looking forward to making more of these pages,

Zetti Girls

Like most of us I have not had a chance to do much in the way of art work lately, with the lead up to Christmas and the New Years holiday, family staying for a few days plus being away a lot in the last month it has been pretty hectic at our house, things have now started to settle down so I took some playtime and have two new zetti book pages that are 7 x 5 to show you,

I love doing these but I really do need to make the effort to get back into the flow of things with my yahoo groups, I have joined some swaps so had better get on with making the atc's and decorated hands that will need to be posted to Ali shortly, anyway hope that you like the new pages.

Gingerbread men

In the same group as the previous post, Valerie sent us a book of 5 Christmas themed chipboard shaped pages, these had to be decorated and returned to her so that she can swap them between the players and either make them into a garland or for those of us that wanted they will be made into books, we will receive 5 different shapes in return, as you can see I worked on gingerbread men,

I thought that I had photographed all 5 pages before sending them back but when I came to download the camera I have only the 2 pictures shown below, never mind I am used to getting it wrong, lol

When I saw these gingerbread men I had absolutely no idea what I could do to decorate them, but out came my papers, inks, stamps, marvy pens, gold leaf, glitter, cord and bells, I was pleased with they way they came out but wish that I had the other photo's, I do hope that the girls will like these !!!!!

This house book page and the charms were made for a swap on the Sum of all Crafts group, Valerie sent us the book page which we were free to decorate in any theme that we wanted, we also had to make 6 charms that will hang from the bottom of the page, we will receive a page and 6 different charms back, each charm from a different player, this has been a great swap to take part in, Thanks Valerie

Cushion Cover, fabric squares

A while ago I posted that I was in a swap to make 9 fabric squares, the theme was ladies with wings, these were sent to Ali, who then swapped them with the other girls, but before sending them back out to us she very kindly made them into cushion covers , here is a picture of my cover, it is just beautiful, all I need to do now is make the cushion for the cover, as there were not enough players for this swap I have 2 of my own squares used in the cover, middle top and center row left, as it happens I am pleased about that because it will always be a reminder of what I had made.

Many thanks go to Ali, Treez, Susan and Jennie for their fantastic work and again to Ali for making such wonderful covers for us.

Mixed Media Book Pages R/R

These are the 2 pages that I did for Gina's mixed media journal, her book is now in the USA being worked on by Sammye, I have yet to receive the next book, but as we are having postal strikes here in the UK it might be held up in the millions of parcel and letters that are yet to be delivered, I hope that it comes soon otherwise I will be running behind with this round robin,

Well its been a few weeks since I put anything on my blog, we have been away for 2 weeks on holiday, then when we came back we company for a couple of days and to top it off I then became ill, am on the mend now so thought that I should get up to date with things so here goes.

Below are some new zetti pages that I made while away, the first 5 are 5" x 7", the other one is 5" x 5", if you have never tried zetti's then you really should give it a try, they are so much fun to do, you can get all info needed, plus rubber stamps, collage sheets, see fantastic journal pages plus lots more at http://www.teeshamoore.com/

I don't think that there is a right or wrong way to do them, as over time people do their own thing, I put words and phrases on mine rather than journaling but this way suits me, I just have FUN

The Zetti cups below were made for a group swap, Elena, in the USA kindly sent all participants a set of 6 Maya road chipboard cups to work on, Thank you so much Elena, we could pick our own theme so as you can see mine just had to be more zetti, these are now on their way back to Elena for her to swap out, can't wait to see what I will get back, when I downloaded the photo's I noticed that although I took 6 pictures, 2 were of the same 1 so I only have 5 images to show you, I really must pay more attention when taking pics,

Zetti Book Pages

Here are another 2 zetti book pages that I made when I was away last week, these are larger than the other 1, this time I made them 7"x 5", I have cut loads of watercolour paper in this size and 5" x 5" as I would like different sized books,

I will be away again from Sunday for 2 weeks so I am going to take everything with me to make loads more of these zetti pages, sorry that the pictures are not clearer or very straight, I need photography lessons, lol,
Jen and Bill are coming away with us and Jen has also started making zetti pages so we should have great fun together, what a mess we are going to make !!!! hopefully I will have lots more to show you when I get back.

I have been having a little play with zetti's, I know that I need to improve, but hopefully with more practice I will get better at making them, the 1 on the left is 5"x 5" on thick water colour paper, I will be making a lot more in that size as I want them for a book, the other 1 is done on a blank coaster which I made for Jen, both are done with water colours, acrylic paints, inks, stamps, sharpie pen, gel pen and crayons.

These pictures are from the front and back covers that I have made for a mixed media journal, it is being done in group that I belong to, we work in groups of 5, we make the covers, add 5 blank pages and then send it to the next person on the list who decorates 2 pages on the theme that has been requested, as I love anything oriental this is what I chose, it will take approximately 5 months before I get it back, can't wait to see what everyone does.

I have used papers, cotton fabric, paper napkins, paints ,inks, stamping, embossing, mulberry paper, chipboard letters, images, cotton and paper flowers, micro beads, Chinese news paper, etc

Vintage wallet swap

Here are the pictures from the vintage wallet swap, another GREAT IDEA from Ali, does this girl ever sleep ?????? she keeps coming up with fantastic swaps for us to take part in, this time we had to make the wallet to hold all of the items that we made , 2 atc's , a calling card, 2 tags and write a letter, all in a vintage theme, great fun to do and I can't wait to see what I get back in return,

Unfortunately I took the pictures and cleared the camera, and posted them off to Ali before checking the photo's, I forgot to take one of the letter and of the wallet when it is open so it's closed in the picture below, oh well never mind !!!!

The tags are fully decorated both sides, another picture that I forgot to take, as you can see I have used a lot of pink and mauve inks, stamping, some waterslide decals, paper flowers, images, ribbons, torn papers, paper napkin etc,

Oriental Fan

Another swap that I have taken part in was to make a fan, Laura the hostess kindly sent everyone the fan blades and the instructions for putting it together, thank you Laura
It was our own choice how to decorate the fan and because I love anything oriental this is what I chose to do, I used black gesso, a black napkin that has orange flowers on it, torn Chinese news paper, inks, stamping and embossing in black and gold, geisha image, postage stamp sized images, lace , gold coloured metal flower frame, and the beads that are hanging at the bottom is from an old earring that I had, this fan has gone to Elena in the USA, I hope that she like it !!!!!

Fabric squares

It's been a while since I posted but as we all know Life gets in the way at times, peace has come back to my home again so I have some time for posting, below are some 4" fabric sqaures that I have made for a swap, we had to make 9 of these with the theme of winged ladies, Ali, the hostess will swap them with squares from other players then sew them together to make decorative cushion covers for us, Many thanks Ali.

The background fabrics are all 100% cotton, one of the ladies is stamped, the others are from my collage sheets, only the image with the two ladies had wings, the other wings are cut out from some butterfly images, I cut a small slit on the ladies back and pushed the wing through this, the images were then copied onto white cotton fabric that I had ironed onto freezer paper so that I could put it through the printer, these were cut out and machined into place then added lace, braids, beads, netting, organza, fabric flowers etc to finish.

Love Tag

This is the tag that I have made for a group swap, the theme was Love and Romance, each player had to make 5 tags decorated on both sides so that they can be made into books, they had to have a French word or saying on them, I used the google translator to change my words from English to French,

Ali, the hostess is going to make a front and back cover for our books, she is also going to put the hole in the top of my tags, Thank You Ali, my 5 tags are all basically the same, just the images on the brown side are different, I have so many commitments at the moment that I did not have time to make them all different, am looking forward to getting the book back to see what the other girls have done, will post the the pictures when it arrives.

Altered Coaster

Another coaster, the rambling rose side is done the same as the letter D alphabet book page that is on another post , the only difference is that I stamped the name on this one
The oriental one was made using, a piece of torn Chinese newspaper, a selection of green ink pads, mulberry papers, tag image from a collage sheet backed onto card, ascent beads, the flowers and butterfly were cut from a sheet that I have had for about 12 years, I knew that it would come in handy one day,lol.

Chunky Book Page, Ooooops

I must have been having a "senior moment" day when I did this book page for Jen, we are supposed to make our book pages with a Victorian theme, I completely forgot about that and made this one instead , ah well it comes to us all in time,

The side with the faces was done with torn papers coloured with different shades of brown ink pads, a selection of face stamps, written words, 3 faces were stamped onto card and added
The Egyptian one again uses torn papers, ink pads, stamping , embossing, old map page, image, postage stamps, etc

Letter E Book Page

Another colourful art piece, (see next post) this time done on a 4x4 chipboard base, this was for a monthly alphabet swap that I am taking part in, E is for eggs was such fun to work on as I have never before done anything so bright, the torn papers were coloured with ink pads before being glued into place then
plenty of stamping, images of birds nest and eggs are from collage sheets, feathers , domed letters and a piece of torn dictionary to finish,

Sandra, who received this page in the swap sent me a lovely thank you email, I am so pleased that she liked it !!!!

Another Coaster

Another coaster for Jen, I have never really worked much with bright colours but after talking to Ali Brandist, who in my opinion is one of the best swap hostesses in the UK, I decided to give it a try, so the picture on the right is a background using torn papers, coloured with ink pads and stamped before gluing into place, I don't have a picture of this one when it was finished but Jen is pleased with the results, the background on the green one was done using a collage stamp that I got on ebay, it was such a bargain, it had never been used and I got it for 99p, can't do better than that !!!!!!

Two Button Fairies

I received these two lovely button fairies in the post today, many thanks to Lorri Otto for the red and yellow fairy and Sue Young for the purple and yellow fairy, both are beautiful, the picture's of these are from a scan I think that I prefer to take photo's, I will add a photo of the ones that I sent for this swap later in the month, I took a picture of them but have left my camera at our boat in Norfolk and will not be going back there for another couple of weeks, Thank you both, I LOVE them !!!!!!

This is the first page of a 5x5 chunky book that I have made for Jen, we will be swapping pages every two weeks, the theme is vintage, the background on the 1st one is made from two paper napkins, it nice to use something other than paper and inks for a change, I also used torn papers, images, stamping, paper flowers, narrow lace, flatbacked crystals, wider lace is coloured with distress ink ,luminare paints, etc.
Jen received this page today and seems very pleased with it, thankfully!

Decorated hands

I recently joined in with a decorated hand swap that Alison Brandist is hosting, here are 3 of the hands that I have made, as you can see I managed to cut off the tip of my middle finger in the photo's, I keep promising myself that I will practice using the camera but there never seems enough time, I would rather be making my ART !!!!!!

I used a combination of papers, a napkin, images, embossing, stamping, inks, gold leaf pen, feathers, braids etc to decorate my hands, I even made the tiny laminated playing cards that hang from the wrist of the lucky hand, I hope that the girls in the swap will like these.

I joined a chunky book swap in one of the groups that I belong to, we had to make 8 pages that were 5x5 inches, The theme was Dans Mon Jardin, french for In My Garden, paper napkins were to be used for the background or as part of the design, below are pictures of the front and back of one of the pages that I made, 3 different napkins were used on each side along with stamping, raised butterflies, lady image, micro beads, inks, clay tiles, paper doilies, feather, fibres, paper flowers etc,

Our hostess is Sue Young in the USA, when she receives all of the pages she is going to make these into books for us, Sue has kindly made each of us a front and back cover to go with these, It will be great to get the finished book back and to see how everyone designed their pages, Thank you Sue !!!!!

The edges of my pages do not look straight in my photo's, they are in reality, I did not know about this until after they were sent to Sue, to late by then !!!

Altered puzzle swap pieces

We have had a secret puzzle piece swap in one of the groups that I belong to, we were each given 2 puzzle pieces from a child's I Spy game, about 5 1/4" long so a nice size to work with, along with the colour themes and the names of the 2 people that we were to send the finished altered puzzle pieces to, below are the ones that I received, the shades of copper one is from Manda in the Netherlands and the white and gold one is from Ali here in the UK, Thank you girls I love them !!!!!!!

The pictures below these two are the ones that I have sent out, the green one is for Sandy in Australia and the red one is for Sandra in Scotland, I hope that they like them !

Altered Coaster

Jen and I decided that we would make a book from coasters, we will be swapping one coaster every two weeks, the pictures below show both sides of the first page that I have made for Jen, it is done on a blank coaster but Jen has kindly sent me a load of printed ones that we will work on for another book when this one is finished, there is not going to be a theme for our first book, it's anything goes !

The 1st side is made with a stamped background on thin black card, embossed with white pearl, the center heart was cutout and photo attached before gluing this to the coaster, it is then coloured with pearl ex powders and spray sealed, the word Love is made from polymer clay, flowers to finish,
The other side is done with a watercolour background and mulberry paper, the boy images are from Lisa's altered art, the shell is stamped, and the fish are from a scrapbook paper and with tiny beads to finish it off

Playing with Polymer Clays

I have been having great fun making tiles from fimo, sculpey and prosculpt clays, using an assortment of colours from the fimo,sculpey range and skin tone from prosculpt, all of these clays are great to work with, although it takes a while to condition the clay and your hands can become sore, but it is worthwhile,
Once the clay was rolled out to the thickness required I used a selection of rubber stamps to make the patterns in the clay, some have bits and pieces embedded in them, filigree's, beads etc, I then trimmed the clay to the size of tiles that I wanted, when a batch was ready they were coloured with pearl ex powders, placed on a baking tray and popped into the oven to cook, this is the first time that I have made polymer clay tiles but it will not be the last as I plan to make a mosaic picture's with them.
If you make the tiles thin enough they are great to use on atc's , chunky book pages etc !

Chakra Swap

One of the trading groups that I belong to is having a Chakra swap, Chakra's are believed to be energy centers in the human body, dating back to the ancient Indian healing system, there are seven of these centers placed at major areas down the body.

We were each given the chakra's Sanskrit name, the name of the place in the body where the chakra is found and the colour way for this, we are to make seven of our chakra's, which are 4 inches in diameter. when the hostess has them all back she will swap them out so that we get one each of the 7 different chakra's, mine will be made into a book.

The Sanskrit name of my chakra is Manipura, meaning Lustrous Gem, it is the third chakra, The Solar Plexus, the colour way is yellow's.

We could use another colour if needed. which is just as well as my Indian lady is stamped in brown, the background paper was white and gold so I coloured over this with yellow inks, to the right is scrunched up tissue paper, the raised area's of this is then embossed with pale yellow as are the stamped flowers on the left, the sun symbol is made from fimo, once the lady was stamped and cut out I used H2O's to colour her, she has pale yellow crystals for her head dress, accent beads at the bottom and shades of yellow beads to finish off. I am looking forward to the return of these although it will be a long wait as I am for once well in advance as these are not due until 15 June.

Letter B Alphabet Book Page

This is the 2nd book page that I have made for a swap in a yahoo group that I belong to, these are 4x4 pages and as you can see there is a very long way to go before the alphabet is finished,
The printed background paper was not the exact colour that I wanted so it has been lightly rubbed over with an ink pad, the pansies are cut from the top layer of a tissue, I used a spray adhesive for this as other glues or a glue stick would have just torn this very thin paper, the butterflies and bird are are shaped and raised up with decoupage sealant, the letter B was painted and then lightly sprayed with glitter, a mix of accent beads are in the center of the pansies, I do hope that the person that this is going to likes it !

King of Invention, Altered cabinet card

Have not posted anything on my blog for the last couple of weeks, had a lot going on here , then went away for a few days on the boat, fishing season is closed at the moment, but it was relaxing just to be away.
I will hopefully be back in the swing of things after tomorrow, got a few atc swaps to catch up on plus a 4x4 page to make, anyway thought that I would show you a cabinet card that I am altering, just a few more bits to go on it, I forgot to take a picture of this before working on it but it was very similar to the one shown below

Altered CD " Schooldays "

I am doing a altered cd swap with my sister in law Jen, as you can see from the picture it's in my favorite colours, shades of brown, I tend to be working more and more with these colours as you will see when I post the pictures of my paper bag book that is finally coming to the end, anyway the cd for Jen was great fun to make, I liked it so much that one of the pages in the book will be very similar.

The cd is covered with loads of torn text pages, coloured with ink pads then a layer of white gesso was applied, 3 holes were drilled for the cord and the hanging numbers at the bottom, the child image, the pens and the word schooldays were all stamped onto card and coloured, the letters and numbers are chipboard that I painted and then sprayed with a gold glitter, the numbers at the bottom are attached with jump rings, a piece of brown leather thong to finish. Jen has already seen a picture of this cd and says that she likes it, hope she means it !!!!!!

Laminate Necklace

In a yahoo group that I belong to we have a swap going on for a necklace made from a sample piece of laminate that you can get in DIY stores, I have never seen these samples here in the UK so the group owner Valerie sent me some from the USA, we are making one each to swap so I thought that I would show a picture of the one that I have made,

The background is variegated gold leaf, a cancelled Chinese postage stamp, 2 pieces of Chinese text, over stamped and coloured, 2 different metal charms, little rough chipping of green coloured plastic/glass, not really sure what these are,and a flat backed dragon that was a very bright gold which I coloured with alcohol inks then sanded over to tone the colour down, I hope that the person that gets this in the swap will like it !!!!

Complex Backgrounds, A link to a tutorial by Karen

I have been having great fun making backgrounds for atc's, it all started when I came across a blog that I had not seen before, it's called Art in the Garage, ( just click on it in my favorite blogs section to go straight there) Karen has a tutorial called Complex Backgrounds, it is fully explained and with lots of step by step pictures, you only require a cereal box, paints, text papers and a couple of rubber stamps and ink, plus your normal glue's etc.

Below are the pictures of the covered box and the cut atc backgrounds, all ready to be worked on, images words etc, This was just so easy to make, Thank You Karen for this tutorial.

I got 25 background atc's, from just one box, but of course you can cut them to any size that you want, keeping any left over strips for inches, twinches, moo's etc, later today I will be making some more in different colours, I knew that all my paints would come in handy one day !!!!!!!

Alphabet 4 x 4 Page

I made this 4 x 4 page for a swap in a yahoo group that I belong to, we have just started this Alphabet trade so there is a long long way to go, as you can see I did "A is for Ancestors".

The back ground is mount board which is coloured with 4 different shades of brown inks, 3 acrylic paints over sequin waste for the dots, torn papers, stamped words, the letter A is also painted and then sprayed with a gold glitter spray, the man and lady image are stamped onto card before being coloured and fixed into place with staples, the word ancestors is done with gold peel offs that have been inked to tone them down, I just hate that bright gold colour but as I have hundreds of them thought that I best start using some of them everything is edged in black to finish off.

Mother & Child Gothic Arch

Today's theme on gothic arches is Mother and Child, I made my arch on black canvas, I used a cracked ice effect rubber stamp and embossed in bronze for the back ground, the faces of mother and child are stamped onto cream card and raised with foam squares, the word love is cutout separately from a larger stamp, other printed words are from a dictionary, everything is edged in copper ink, I used links and chain to bind mother and child together, metal photo corners to finish it off.

Here are some other Atc's made recently, as you can see the top 2 are made with the same stamped and cutout image, the brown is done on 2 background papers and torn mulberry paper, the word dream is inked chipboard letters, they are very thick so I cut through the layers to make them thinner, they come apart very easily, the blue one is on a collage stamped background, I used ink pads to colour this, both have inked edges to finish.

Making the one called love was a first for me as I used a thin black card to go over the base , the stamp used is a collage of words, flowers and a heart, I stamped it with a watermark ink (clear ) then embossed it in white, then coloured over the top with pearl powders, cut the heart shape out and added the picture to the back, very pleased with the way this came out.

The other 3 were great fun to make, I love these fun stamps, am waiting for some more to arrive, the ink pot lady is on a collage of papers, the pen,nib and letters are all from a different stamp,

Postage man is on a collage stamp background, coloured straight from the ink pads, he was coloured with marvy pens before being cutout, the 3rd one does not come with these legs so I used some from another stamp, the background is inked and stamped with a cracked ice effect, Great Fun !!!!!!!!

Dream, Altered CD

I have been having a play at altering a cd, I am pleased with the way it is, but think that maybe I should have done more to it ? although I am not sure what !

The cd is covered with canvas then layered with lots of different torn papers ,a couple of old tickets and postage stamps, I had inked the edges of these in shades of brown, when this was all done I decided that it was to much so I painted a thin layer of white gesso over the top to tone it down, added stamped cutout images of the lady and crow, stamped dragonflies, a piece of mesh, chipboard letters, toiled butterflies and some reddish brown chipping, not sure what these are they look like glass but are not sharp, inked around the edge of the cd to finish, Loved doing this and am ready to start another one,.

Gothic Arches-----Pink and Brown

The theme on Gothic Arches this week is pink and brown, anything goes as long as you use these two colours, so here is my arch, it is canvas on card, painted with a pink base, I used a sea sponge to dab on a darker pink , both acrylic paints, also used a piece of a torn letter, a scroll with flowers in brown ink, 3 cancelled pink and brown postage stamps, lady image, the roses are a water slide decal that are used on plates cups etc, I cut it out and left it to dry then added it to my arch, brown inked edges to finish.

I am off on holiday today so will look at all of the arches when I get back next Saturday,

Altered Puzzle Pieces

I had a great evening yesterday, I altered two puzzle pieces, first time ever, they are roughly 3" in size and are from a puzzle that my grandchilden had when they were younger, not the wooden ones just modern day cardboard.

I took the printed paper off of these and painted a base of browns which I have left showing in places, then layered printed and stamped papers for the background, the mother and child are both stamped images, to the left of the girl is black mesh and to the right of the mother is a piece of lint bandage which I coloured with ink pads, both have metal words and some inking over the background and sides, the links, chain and wire are from a really grotesque mobile phone dangle, it came in handy after all !

I am making a paper bag book and these two pieces will be linked together by the chain on one of the pages, the book is taking forever to make as I only work on it when Treez, a friend of mine comes over, as we both go away a lot sometimes 3-4 weeks pass before anything gets done to it !

Anyway I hope that you like my 1st attempt at altering puzzle pieces!

Tea Time Gothic Arch

Today the theme on gothic arches is Tea Time, so here is my Tea Time Fairy, this has been a great theme and I loved making this arch, hope that you like it,
The background is a mix of 3 alcohol inks on photo paper, flowers and scrolls are stamped, the little boy image is from Lisa's Altered Art, I added the butterfly wings, the teacup is from a rubber stamp, which I cut a slit into so that my fairy is standing in the cup, printed words and edged in black to finish.

Mixed Media Inches

Today while searching through my fabric boxes I found these mixed media inches that I made a few years ago, so thought that I would post a picture of them, the background fabric is velvet on craft vilene, I used gold threads, wood and glass beads, braids, jump rings, ribbons, thin gold metal, small piece green and gold fabric, piece black and gold paper, button and findings left over from the days that I decorated egg shells, I really can not imagine working on anything so small again, the smallest thing that I do now is the twinches.

I have added a second picture of these, the one on the Right as the other one will not enlarge for some unknown reason !!!!!

Mardi Gras Gothic Arch

The theme this week on gothic arches is Mardi Gras / Carnival, when I was younger I absolutely loved carnivals, the noise and the mass of colour was fantastic, so with this theme I knew my arch had to be colourful, I am not usually into colours but I certainly used some on this arch,
The background is painted and I have drawn some little stars and squiggles, the lady is stamped and coloured with luminere paints, I drew the little hearts on her face, the eye mask has 3 tiny flat back crystals and some feathers the butterfly is raised, hope that you like this arch !!!!

Pink Twinchies

Here are my two Pink twinches for this weeks challenge, the fairy one is made with pink gingham paper, torn mulberry paper and angel hair, edges are over sewn with embroidery floss, added glass beads, the fairy is cut out of a piece of cotton fabric, the other one has an 2 toned inked background, stamped branches, flowers and birds, the 2 ladies are cut from a black and white collage sheet and coloured with marvy pens, inked edges and a paper flower to finish.

Clown twinches

I had great fun making these 2 twinches for this weeks challenge, the theme of course is Clowns, I lightly shaded some plain white paper stuck onto card, stamped a red cracked effect background, over this are stamped dots, (another handmade stamp made with circles cut out of funky foam) the clown images are from a sheet of Victorian scraps that I have had for about 10 years, I knew that they would come in handy one day, added a little cane, words, beads and a beaded hanger, coloured the sides with inks to match the dots.

Vintage Love moo's

These are my " vintage love " moo's for this weeks challenge, I stamped a collage onto thin white card, cut out the hearts, added the photos behind and then placed onto heavier cardstock, I used 3 shades of pearl ex powders to colour the collage and the printed words, sealed with spray sealer and edged in black, not sure why but the pearl ex colours have come out a lot darker in the photo ????

Oriental Atc's

Gypsy Gothic Arch

My Circle Moo

I haven't taken part in the Make a Moo challenge site for a few weeks due to illness and Christmas holidays, but thought that it was time to get back into the swing of things , so here is my moo for this week, the theme is circles, I painted the background, which can hardly be seen now, taped sequin waste over this and used a watermark stamp pad which is embossed in gold and bronze, stamped a few thin black circles, the darker/thicker circles are cut from silk rods that I painted black, also added a few gold jump rings. Thought that I would try something different but not sure now if I actually like it !!!

Grunge, Gothic Arch

Here is a picture of my arch for this weeks challenge on Gothic Arches, the theme is " Grunge ", this has been fun to make as its my first attempt at grunge, certainly will not be my last ! I made this one 5 1/2" tall, a nice size to work with.

I glued photo paper to my card base which was then twisted around in a pool of 3 different colours of alcohol inks to give the background effect, the clock and music stand were cut from an old antiques sale catalogue, the photo of the lady was carefully removed from a cabinet card, ( I was surprised at how easy the photo came away from the backing card) when these were in place I added more ink over the top of them, then scored the arch with a metal comb, not really sure what it is, the circles are added with acrylic paints, black inked edges to finish it off.

" Blue Colour " Twinches

This weeks theme at Nan's Inchies & Twinchies challenge site is " Blue Colours " I love doing colour theme's so I have really enjoyed making my 2 twinchies for this week.

Both are done on different shades of blue pearl papers, the one on the left is stamped with a tree, the little boy image is from Lisa's Altered Art, the tied cinnamon sticks are from a tea bag folding paper, bird is from a collage sheet from Retro Cafe Art ,I used fabric paint to give a raised edge.

The other one was stamped with a cracked ice effect stamp and embossed in white , the dove and the word Peace are from a Christmas paper image booklet, I have over sewn the edges of this one to it finish off.

2 Atcs for the Lottery winners

These are the 2 atc's that I made for last months 2 winners of the " wtax2 " in the atc world group that I belong to, I hope that they like them.

The background of the green one was made by painting green and mauve areas of acrylic paints onto watercolour paper when this was dry I covered the whole page with white glue, covering this with creased tissue paper, another coat of glue to seal the tissue paper and before it dried I added some gold glitter and a few pieces of torn mulberry paper, the numbers and the " postage person " are stamped to card and added with brads, I used some lilac fabric paint to give a raised effect around the center of the body.

Winter Wonderland was made using a ribbed mottled background paper, I stamped this with my homemade tree stamp, stamped birds, the print of the 2 girls is from a Ladies picture disc that I bought a couple of years ago but had never used, had forgotten that there are some lovely photo's on it, they were separate pictures so I cut them out and overlapped them, I added some snow by dipping an old tooth brush into white paint and splattering it onto the atc, the words and brads to finish.

My first tag book " LOVE "

Last spring when Jen came to stay for a week we decided to try our hands at making a tag book each, I had so much fun making this book and am very pleased with the way that it turned out, so I thought that I would share the pictures of my first tag book with you, the tags were cut from mount board and measure just under 5" x 2. 1/2", the theme for this book is LOVE :-)

Christmas Advent Atc Swap

Back in November I joined in with a Christmas Advent Swap held at the Atc World Group that I belong to, every player had to make 25 Christmas atc's, put them into little envelopes, and send them back to the hostess Amanda for her to swap out, what a huge job that must have been, the last I heard she had over 65 players, anyway she did a great job getting them all back out to the players before 1st December, that way we all had our own "advent calender" to enjoy, opening a different envelope each day leading up to Christmas, we could make all our atc's identical if wished, as nobody was getting 2 from any one player, that was a great help as I don't think that I could have made 25 different Christmas atc's, Below is a double picture of the one that I made, and below that are the pictures of the ones that I received,Thank you to everyone that took part in this swap, and special thanks to Amanda for all of her hard work.

The ones that I made were done with a printed background paper and overlayed with angel hair, (webbed fibres) plus torn mulberry paper, the carol singers were stamped onto paper and coloured in with marvy pens, gold embossed snow flakes and gold leaf pen on the edges to finish them off.

Hello Everyone

After so long away from my blog I thought that it was about time to get things back into routine again, I have been ill for nearly a month and then with Christmas and New Year the time has just flown by, I swapped some art pieces with my sister in law Jen, these were made for our November swap so I have added the pictures of some of these, I also made Jen a nine piece Moo puzzle which I was very pleased with ,and a Winter gothic arch, but I need to wait for my brother to email a picture of these as I forgot to take one so I will add that at a later date.

Year!!!!!!

1st, A mix of printed and mulberry papers, picture, and machine sewn

2nd, Christmas ornaments, inspired by Tim Holtz, ideas taken from his Christmas tags

3rd, This is my first attempt using the packing tape transfer technique, inked background

4th, Another new one for me, I used the Bandanna Technique, flower scrolls stamped with black Stazon and then the dots around the pattern are done with a white gel pen

These baby and mermaid paper dolls were made using patterns by Valerie Brincheck, the baby is made with printed papers, brads for the buttons and some lampshade fringe for his hair, arms and legs both move.

The mermaid was done with water colour paints for the skin tone, roving for the hair, tiny no hole beads and flat back gems as embellishments, her tail is painted with shades of blue and lilac, when this was dry I laid a piece of sequin waste over the top and dabbed on some Duncans pearl ivory paint to represent her scales, I had great fun making both of these paper dolls, hope that you like them.

Gothic arch " Celebrate "

Here is my " Celebrate " gothic arch for this weeks challenge, it has a pale paper back ground that I stamped all over with a "cracked ice" stamp in sepia, I then painted the top and left hand side with 3 different metalic paints, this is over stamped with a flourish in Chestnut ink, the beautiful girl is from a free collage sheet at Digital Collage Sheets.com, I inked the word celebrate in black and then stamped into hot sealing wax, a little sheer ribbon and paper flower to finish !!!

This weeks theme on pretty paper hearts is to use Christmas colours of cream and white, I used a deep cream and gold back ground, white lace , 2 prints of vintage Christmas girls, paper holly and flat backed crystals in place of the berries in their hair, white braid on the front edge and cream lace behind this, the music paper is " O Christmas Tree ", I loved making this one !!!!!!

Pretty Paper Heart

This weeks challenge is to make our hearts using our favorite Christmas colours, I love mauve and silver together so these are the colours that I chose, I don't know if it's the flash from the camera but the silver is not showing up as well as it should, I have used background paper with torn mulberry paper, the pansies are raised decoupage, the little girl is from Lisa's Altered Art, I gave her a pair of wings from my stash, stamped and silver embossed patterns with inked edges to finish ! It's been another great theme, I hope that you like the heart that have made !

This weeks inchie & twinchie is " Cute "

Over on Nancy's inchie & twinchie challenge site the theme for this week is " Cute ", what a lovely idea !

My twinchie is made with pale pink paper which I stamped with little stars, then added torn mulberry paper, lace, a metal open heart, printed words, 2 tiny flat backed pinhead crystals, and a waistband of silk ribbon on the babies dress, this baby is from Lisa's Altered Art, I hope that you like her !!!!

This weeks Moo challenge is " First Time"

The theme this week is "First Time ", the first time that you try something new, so for this weeks moo's I decided not to use any paper images for the first time. I used a canvas paper for the 1st time, which I painted black, I then used a selection of Duncans liquid pearl acrylics to dab colours onto the black canvas, (all of these colours have a hint of gold) this is the 1st time that I have used these in paper/canvas art, many years ago I cut and decorated real egg shells and this is what I used the paints for, I also laid a piece of sequin waste over the top of the paint and dabbed some more paint on to give some small circles, I then stamped over this with my new leaf stamps and embossed them with silver with silver edges to finish,

Sorry that the picture looks a bit gold I think its from the camera flash, this is the best picture that I can get, have tried about 14 times!!!!

Gothic arch " Silhouette "

I am determined to get ahead with my challenges this week, I have surprised myself by finishing my Gothic arch today instead of leaving things to the last minute, and then finding out that I am too late for the deadline, the theme for this week is " Silhouette ", which has been a great theme to work with, I stamped leaves onto the back ground along with the grasses and birds, the fairy, lamppost and bird were all stamped onto paper and then cut out and pasted into place, the edges are inked to finish off. I am happy with the way this has turned out !
